The 5-minute planning method that actually changed my productivity
I used to spend hours making elaborate to-do lists that I'd never look at again. Sound familiar?
After testing dozens of systems, I landed on something stupidly simple: the 5-minute daily reset.
Here's how it works:
Every morning, open your planner — digital or printed, doesn't matter
Write down your top 3 priorities — not 10, not 7, just 3
Block one "deep work" hour — put it in your calendar, protect it like a meeting
Review for 60 seconds at night — did you hit your 3? If yes, celebrate. If not, carry forward ONE item
That's it. No color-coding systems, no 47-tab Notion templates, no overwhelm.
The secret isn't the tool — it's the constraint. When you force yourself to pick only 3 things, you start cutting the noise and focusing on what actually moves the needle.
I built the PlanAesthetics planner bundle around this philosophy. Minimal layouts. Zero clutter. Just enough structure to keep you on track without making planning itself a full-time job.
Yearly planner, meal planner, habit tracker, budget tracker — all designed to take less than 5 minutes a day.
If you've been stuck in "planning about planning" mode, try the 5-minute reset for a week. Your future self will thank you.
