Why Most Podcast Clips Flop (And What Actually Works)

I've clipped hundreds of podcast episodes and there's a pattern to what goes viral vs what dies at 200 views.

Most podcasters just grab the "best moment" and throw it on TikTok. That's not how short-form works.

The 3 things that actually matter:

*1. The hook isn't the best quote — it's the most curiosity-inducing one.*

Your best insight might be amazing context, but if it doesn't make someone stop scrolling in 0.5 seconds, it's useless as a clip opener. We look for moments that create an open loop — something that makes the viewer think "wait, what?"

2. Captions aren't optional — they're 60% of the experience.

Most people watch on mute. If your captions are small, ugly, or poorly timed, you've already lost. We use bold, animated captions timed to speech rhythm. It sounds small. It changes everything.

3. Length matters more than you think.

The sweet spot for podcast clips is 45-75 seconds. Under 30 and you can't build enough context. Over 90 and retention tanks. We cut tight — no filler, no long pauses, no rambling intros.

If you're a podcaster trying to grow on short-form, these three things alone will 3-5x your average views. Or just let us handle it — that's literally what we do.
