Let’s start with the three most important things in poker. Without them, you’re not going to get very far.
1. Bankroll Management
2. Game selection
3. Skill level
Yes in this order
Let’s start with the first one
1. Obviously you need money to play , but how many buy-ins you actually should have in order to enter either tournament or a cash game ? And I have my personal view on this , and it really depends on your situation but in general you don’t wanna be to passive or to aggressive , let’s start with what consider normal , for the tournaments reasonable number of buy-ins would be 200 , and for cash games 100 . Now , how low you want go , import to understand how many buy-ins is comfortable for you to have , because I know people that are not feeling comfy to play unless they have 200+ buy-ins , I personally prefer to be on the more aggressive side , and very important to know what tournaments you play and on which sites . Because if you play on GG or stars where are thousands of players in each tournament and tough field , reasonable number of buy-ins would be 400-500+ , just to make sure you are not gonna go broke , but if playing where I was playing mostly on the smaller sites with less people playing (100-300people ) for the most part number of buy-ins could be even less than 100 , with 1-2 tournaments in the session you could have 50 buy-ins , that how prefer to play , but important to start play smaller if you lost 20-30% of your bankroll . So if you have 10,000$ and you play on gg you should not play bigger than 55$ tournament , with 5-25$ range of the tournaments for the most part , and if you play on the smaller ones like I do 888poker , Grompoker , Pokerbet , WPN + some apps and you have 10,000$ you can play a little aggressively and play some 109+ time after time , and 10-55$ for the most part . That would be my recommendation , more soon ..
