Why most people overpay for Pokémon cards (and how to stop)
I've been in the Pokémon card game for years — selling PSA slabs, raw singles, and sealed product from Japan, China, and English sets.
Here's what I've learned: most buyers are leaving money on the table.
The 3 biggest mistakes I see:
Buying graded cards without checking recent comps. A PSA 10 Charizard sold for $400 last month doesn't mean it's worth $400 today. Markets move fast.
Sleeping on Japanese sealed product. JP boxes are consistently underpriced compared to English equivalents. The quality is better, the art is often exclusive, and supply is tighter long-term.
Not building relationships with sellers. The best deals don't hit eBay. They go to repeat buyers who are easy to work with.
