Most Power BI dashboards fail not because of bad data — but because of bad design decisions.

Here are 5 I see constantly:

1. Too many visuals on one page. If your dashboard has 15+ charts, nobody's reading it. Aim for 5-7 max per page. Tell ONE story per view.

2. Using pie charts for more than 3 categories. Beyond 3 slices, the human eye can't compare sizes accurately. Use a horizontal bar chart instead.

3. No clear filter context. If someone opens a filtered view and can't immediately tell what filters are active, your dashboard is broken. Always show active slicers prominently.

4. Default color palettes. Power BI's defaults are fine for prototyping, but for stakeholder-facing reports, a custom 3-4 color palette makes your work look 10x more professional.

5. Ignoring mobile layout. Over 40% of execs check dashboards on their phone. If you haven't configured the mobile view, you're losing half your audience.
