If the car is dark — black, navy, dark gray — you can see it in sun in under a year. Light paint hides it longer, then one day it doesn't.

What actually works:

• Two-bucket or a foam cannon. Never dry-wipe dust.

• A clay bar only when the paint feels gritty, not every wash.

• Machine polish when marring is already there. Wax will not fill scratches. It just makes them shiny scratches.

• Ceramic if you want the next three years of washes to be easier, not if you want a miracle on neglected clear coat. Correction first, coating second.

If you're washing at home once a week and the car still looks dull, stop buying more wax. The paint needs correction, not another layer.
