Hot Take: The 'load management' era has ruined regular season basketball
Real talk — when superstars sit 15-20 games a season "for their health," it doesn't just hurt one team. It devalues the entire regular season.
Fans pay full price for tickets not knowing if the guy they came to see is even playing. TV ratings dip. Rivalry games lose their juice. And it's not like this actually correlates with fewer injuries in the playoffs anyway — guys still go down in June just the same as October.
Here's my take: cap it. You get X "rest" games a season, tracked league-wide, and past that it's a fine that actually stings. Health-related sits with real diagnoses are exempt, obviously. But "load management" as a vibe needs to end.
Where do you stand? Necessary evil for player longevity, or the thing quietly killing the product?
