Welcome to Prima Studio 🩰

Welcome to the studio — I'm so glad you're here.

Whether you've always dreamed of ballet or just discovered it, this space was built for you. No prior experience needed. Just an open mind and a willingness to move.

Here's how to get started:

  1. Ballet Foundations — Start with the course. Each lesson builds on the last, from basic positions to fluid combinations

  2. Studio Lounge — Introduce yourself in the chat. Ask questions, share your progress, connect with other students

  3. Instructor Updates — This is where I'll post new lesson drops, technique tips, and practice challenges

Take it at your own pace. Ballet is a conversation between your body and the music — there's no rush.

See you at the barre. ✨

The 3 things every adult beginner gets wrong in ballet (and how to fix them)

After 15 years of teaching ballet to adults, I've watched hundreds of beginners make the same mistakes in their first month. Not technique errors — mindset errors.

1. Forcing turnout too early

Your hips need time to open. Forcing a 180° turnout on day one doesn't make you look like a dancer — it puts stress on your knees. Start at 45°. Build from there. Your body will tell you when it's ready.

2. Watching yourself in the mirror instead of feeling the movement

The mirror is a tool, not a judge. Beginners fixate on how they look and lose connection with how the movement feels. Close your eyes during a tendu sometime. The proprioceptive feedback is where real progress lives.

3. Skipping the "boring" stuff

Pliés, tendus, relevés — they feel repetitive. But these are not warm-ups. They ARE ballet. Every grand allegro, every pirouette is built on these foundations. The dancers who master the basics are the ones who eventually make the hard stuff look effortless.

I built Prima Studio to give adult beginners a structured path through these fundamentals — no shortcuts, no fluff. Just clean technique taught the way it should be.

If you've been thinking about starting ballet, stop thinking and start moving.
