The one system decision most beginners skip

Most people trying to start a business jump straight to tactics — "what ad should I run," "what should I post today," "which platform should I sell on." That's step four. Step one is picking one business model and one audience before you touch any tactic at all.

Here's a simple filter that works regardless of which of the 11 skill areas you're drawn to (marketing, ecommerce, client services, content, automation, or software):

Ask three questions before you build anything:

  1. Who exactly is this for? (Not "everyone" — a specific person with a specific problem.)

  2. What do they already pay money to solve this problem today?

  3. Can you deliver a version of that solution within 2 weeks, even an imperfect one?

If you can't answer all three, you're not ready to pick a marketing channel, a product, or a price — you're still in the research phase, and that's fine. Just be honest about which phase you're in.

This is the exact filter used across every campus here — Strategic Marketing, Client Acquisition, Ecommerce, Product & SaaS — before any tactical lesson. Skill without direction is just expensive entertainment.

No guarantees, no shortcuts — just the order of operations that actually holds up.
