The 3 biggest mistakes beginners make in the gym (and what to do instead)
I've watched hundreds of people start lifting over the years. The ones who quit within 3 months almost always make the same mistakes.
Mistake 1: Program hopping. You do PPL for 2 weeks, switch to bro split, try Starting Strength, then give up. Pick ONE program and run it for 8-12 weeks minimum. Adaptation takes time.
Mistake 2: Ego lifting. Nobody cares how much you bench on week 2. Drop the weight, nail the form, and add 5 lbs per week. In 6 months you'll be stronger than the guy who rushed it and got hurt.
Mistake 3: No tracking. If you don't know what you lifted last week, how do you know what to lift this week? Progressive overload is the only thing that matters for building muscle. Write it down.
The fix is simple: follow a structured program, check your ego, and log every session.
That's exactly what we built Iron Vault for — a library of proven programs for beginners who want real results without the guesswork.
