Why most player prop bettors lose (and how to fix it)

Most people betting player props are doing it wrong. They're chasing parlays, tailing random accounts, and ignoring the only thing that actually matters β€” the data.

Here's what I look at before locking in any prop:

1. Usage rate vs. matchup β€” A guy averaging 22 PPG means nothing if he's facing the #1 defense at his position and his usage drops 8% in those spots.

2. Pace of play β€” Total possessions dictate opportunity. A high over/under game with two fast-paced teams creates more counting stat opportunities across the board.

3. Rest and rotation context β€” Back-to-backs, injury reports, minutes restrictions. The line doesn't always adjust fast enough when a key teammate is ruled out at 6 PM.

4. Line movement timing β€” If a line opens at 22.5 and moves to 24.5 by tip, the sharp money already spoke. I track where the line opens vs. where it closes.

5. Sport-specific edges β€” NHL props behave completely differently than NBA props. Tennis is its own animal. You can't use the same framework across all sports and expect to win.

This is what I do full-time across NBA, NFL, NCAA, MLB, NHL, and Tennis inside PropVault. Data-first, no fluff, no parlays-of-the-day nonsense.

If you're serious about this, come see the work.
