Most people start learning design by watching tutorials for weeks before ever opening Figma.

1. Copy before you create. Pick a real app you admire — Spotify, Linear, Notion — and recreate one screen pixel-perfect. You'll learn more in 2 hours than 20 hours of tutorials.

2. Learn the vocabulary. Hierarchy, contrast, proximity, whitespace. These aren't buzzwords. They're the rules that separate "looks off" from "looks professional."

3. Get feedback early and often. Don't hide your work until it's perfect. Share ugly drafts. The feedback loop is where the growth happens.

4. Study what you love. Collect screenshots of designs that stop you in your tracks. Build a swipe file. Your taste develops faster when you're paying attention.
