The first 8 weeks with a puppy: ignore 80% of the advice
If you just brought a puppy home, you already know the problem: everyone has a system. Crate vs no crate. Raw vs kibble. 47 TikToks about 'the one mistake new owners make.'
Most of that is noise. In the first 8 weeks, three things actually matter:
A boring daily routine. Same wake, same meals, same last walk. Puppies settle faster when the day is predictable, not when you invent a new protocol every night.
One vet visit on the calendar. Not a 12-week health plan. One appointment, booked, with a written list of what to ask.
A short supplies list you can finish this week. Food, a crate or bed, a leash you will actually use, poop bags, and a number for after-hours care. Everything else can wait.
Write those three down. Check them off. Then ignore the rest until week 3.
That's the whole job right now: fewer decisions, not better ones.
