Why most STEM students fail at self-study (and the fix that actually works)

Ran into the same wall over and over with students I've tutored in calc, linear algebra, and intro CS: they get stuck on a problem, can't get unstuck fast enough, lose momentum, and end up cramming the night before the exam.

The real bottleneck isn't intelligence — it's latency. If it takes you 20 minutes to figure out why your proof is wrong or why your recursion isn't terminating, you stop. If it takes you 20 seconds, you keep going. Momentum compounds; stalls kill it.

That's the whole thesis behind what I'm building at QuantaTutor: structured STEM courses (math, CS, physics) paired with an AI tutor that removes the stall. Not a replacement for understanding — a way to keep you moving so you actually finish the problem set instead of closing the laptop.

If you're grinding through a STEM major right now: the fastest thing you can do this week is find a way to shrink your "stuck-to-unstuck" time, whatever tool you use for it.
