4 things most punters get wrong (and why they keep losing)

Most bettors lose money for one simple reason: they bet on who they think will win, not on where the value is.

Here's what changed how I approach every single race:

Backing the favourite isn't a strategy.

Favourites win around 30-35% of races β€” but they're priced at 50%+ implied probability. You're donating money long-term.

What actually works:

1. Class drops are undervalued by the market

A horse dropping down in class after struggling at a higher level is consistently mispriced. Bookmakers don't adjust fast enough. This is free edge.

2. Pace analysis beats form study

Most punters read last race finishes. Smart money reads how the race was run. A horse that ran into a wall of slow pace looks better on paper than it actually was.

3. Track conditions are alpha β€” and publicly available

A horse with a 65% strike rate on soft ground at 5/1 is an edge hiding in plain sight. This data is public. Most people ignore it.

4. Stall draw is underpriced in sprint handicaps

Position at the gate can be worth 2-3 lengths before a hoof touches the ground. Yet it's rarely factored into the price.

The edge isn't secret information. It's disciplined, systematic application of information everyone has access to.

That's exactly what The Racing Edge is built to teach β€” a repeatable, data-driven approach to finding value at the track.
