The 5 exercises every beginner should master before anything else
Most beginners make the same mistake — they jump into complicated programs and burn out in 2 weeks.
Here's what actually works when you're starting from zero:
1. Bodyweight squats — Your legs are the foundation for everything. 3 sets of 10, full depth, controlled. If your knees cave in, narrow your stance.
2. Push-ups (modified is fine) — From your knees or a wall if you need to. Nobody cares. What matters is chest to ground, full lockout at the top.
3. Dead hangs — Grab a bar and just hang. Builds grip, shoulder stability, and decompresses your spine. Start with 15 seconds and build up.
4. Shadow boxing (jab-cross only) — Stand in front of a mirror. Lead hand jab, rear hand cross. Focus on returning your hands to guard position every single time. This is where discipline starts.
5. Planks — 30 seconds, hollow body, squeeze everything. Your core connects your upper and lower body — if it's weak, everything else falls apart.
Master these five before you add anything else. Consistency beats complexity every time.
