The campus bookstore buyback is a tax on being a student

You already know the number.

New: $280. “Used” on the shelf: $210. Buyback at the end of term: $35 — if they even want it.

That’s not a used-book market. That’s a monopoly renting you a hardcover for a semester and keeping the spread.

The books already exist. They’re in dorms, last year’s backpacks, parents’ shelves. They only go back through the bookstore because there’s no campus-wide place to list them that people actually use.

Folio is that place. $19 for the semester. List what you finished. Buy what you need next. Meet on campus. Keep the difference.

If you’re listing: ISBN + edition in the title. Photo of the spine. Condition in one line. Price under the bookstore’s used price — not under what your roommate wants.

If you’re buying: Match the ISBN, not the course name. Editions change. Ask for a photo of the table of contents if you’re not sure.

Stop funding the buyback.
