5 Things Slowing Down Your Computer (And How to Fix Them in 10 Minutes)

Your computer didn't used to be this slow. Here's what's probably going on — and how to fix each one without calling anyone.

1. Too many startup programs

Hit Ctrl+Shift+Esc → Startup tab → disable anything you don't need running when your computer boots. Most people have 15+ programs loading at startup. You need maybe 3.

2. Your browser has 47 tabs open

Each tab eats RAM. If you're the "I'll read that later" type, bookmark it and close it. Your computer will thank you.

3. You haven't restarted in weeks

"Sleep" is not the same as "restart." A real restart clears temporary files and resets memory. Do it at least once a week.

4. Your storage is almost full

If your hard drive is over 90% full, everything slows down. Delete old downloads, empty the recycle bin, and uninstall apps you haven't used in 6 months.

5. Windows Update is running in the background

That random slowdown at 2pm? Probably an update downloading. Let it finish — don't fight it.

If you've tried all 5 and it's still slow, it might be something deeper — malware, a failing hard drive, or a hardware issue. That's where I come in. $25 and I'll diagnose and fix it over text. No jargon, no upsells, just a fix.
