5 things I wish I knew before I started reselling
I've flipped everything from $3 thrift store jackets to $800 sneaker drops. Here's what I learned the hard way so you don't have to:
1. Start with what you already know.
If you're into sneakers, start there. If you thrift, start there. Don't try to learn every category at once — go deep on one thing first.
2. Your phone is your best tool.
eBay sold listings, StockX price history, Google Lens for identifying items. Before you buy anything, check what it actually sells for — not what people are listing it for.
3. The money is in the sourcing, not the selling.
Anyone can list an item. The skill is finding things below market value consistently. That's what separates someone making $50/month from $5,000/month.
4. Don't hold inventory you're not confident about.
If you're not 80% sure it'll sell within 2 weeks, leave it on the shelf. Dead inventory kills your cash flow and your motivation.
5. Track everything.
Spreadsheet, app, notebook — doesn't matter. Track what you paid, what you sold for, fees, and shipping. If you don't know your real profit margin, you might be working for free.
I'm building a community here on Whop where I share deal alerts, sourcing strategies, and flipping tips across all categories. It's free to join right now — come learn with us.
