5 things every freelancer should have templated before taking on a new client
I've been freelancing for a while now, and the single biggest unlock was templating the boring stuff. Not just for speed — for consistency, professionalism, and peace of mind.
Here are the 5 docs I never start a project without:
1. Client onboarding questionnaire
Stop playing 20 questions over email. One form, all the info you need upfront. Scope, timeline, budget, brand assets — done.
2. Project proposal / scope template
This is your armor. It defines what's included, what's extra, and when things are due. No more "I thought this was part of the deal."
3. Invoice template with payment terms
Net 15. Net 30. Whatever you choose — have it ready. Professional invoices get paid faster. Period.
4. Feedback & revision tracker
Revision 1, 2, 3... stop losing track of what changed and when. A simple doc keeps both sides accountable.
5. Post-project review template
After delivery, capture what worked and what didn't. This is how you get better AND collect testimonials.
I built all of these into ready-to-use templates (plus a lot more) inside The Resource Hub. If you're tired of reinventing the wheel every time, it might save you a few hours a week.
