WHAT HAPPENS THE DAY A RENEWAL FAILS ON YOUR WHOP?

With Whop alone: retry emails for 5 days, then the membership is cancelled. With Retainer: a DM the same day, in your voice, from your own whop, one tap to update the card.

Recovered members show up in your dashboard, and risk scores flag the cards likely to fail next. Free to install:

ON A WEEKLY PLAN, EVERY CARD IS CHARGED 52 TIMES A YEAR.

Every charge is a chance to fail: expired card, bank decline, limit hit. Each failed charge is a seat you have to sell again, and weekly whops hit that wall four times more often than monthly ones.

Retainer DMs the member the day the payment fails, with one tap to update the card. Free to install.

YOUR MEMBERS AREN'T QUITTING. THEIR CARDS ARE FAILING.

Expired card, bank decline, limit hit. Whop retries by email for 5 days, then cancels the membership, and you have to sell that seat again.

Retainer messages the member the same day, from your own whop, with one tap to update the card. Free to install, 30 seconds.

When a member's card fails, Whop retries by email for 5 days, then cancels the membership. On a weekly plan that happens 52 times a year per card, and most of those members never decided to leave.

Retainer messages that member the day the charge fails, from your own whop, in your voice, with a one-tap link to fix the card. Free to install, or pay only 20% of what it recovers. Now live on Discover, demo video on the page:

I checked 33 Whop product pages tonight. "X joined" is not your paying base.

The big number at the top of a whop page is total sign-ups, free tier included. The paying count only shows on the product card next to a recurring price — and the gap is brutal. One whop: 9,672 joined, 117 paying at $50/mo. Another: 22,805 joined, and the VIP card shows no count at all. Of 33 pages, 18 show a paying count, 15 show none.

Why it matters: your churn math runs on paying members, not sign-ups. And the number Whop never shows you is failed renewals — 3–5% of charges fail in a normal month on expired cards and bank blocks, then the membership is cancelled after 5 days of retries. Nobody messages those members.

Owners — do you know how many of your renewals fail each month?

Retainer — affiliate program is open. 40% recurring, for life.

Retainer is a Whop app that recovers failed payments, wins back cancellations and re-engages silent members — by DM, from the creator's own support chat — and shows the $ recovered.

What you earn: Pro $49/mo → $19.60/mo per whop, recurring · Business $149/mo → $59.60/mo.

Who to pitch: anyone running a paid whop with a monthly or weekly plan. Every one of them loses 5–10% of MRR to expired cards each month; most have never DM'd a single one of those members.

The pitch that works: "how many of your renewals failed last month?" — then the install link.

Whop retries a failed card by email for 5 days, then cancels the membership. Here's what that costs a $50/mo whop with 300 members.

• 5–10% of renewals fail every month — mostly expired cards, not people leaving. That's 15–30 members.

• Retry emails get ~20% opens. So 12–24 members a month never see it, and Whop cancels them on day 5.

• At $50/mo that's $600–1,200/mo walking out for a reason that has nothing to do with your content.

The fix is embarrassingly simple: a personal DM from your own support chat within minutes of the failed charge, one follow-up two days later, stop the second they pay. We built that into a Whop app (Retainer) and it shows you the exact $ that came back — nothing else counts.
