Quick napkin math: the average online shopper returns about 15-20% of what they buy — but only bothers with roughly half of the items they're actually unhappy with. The rest just... sits there. Wrong size, impulse buy, gift they didn't want. Not because the item isn't returnable — because the deadline quietly passed while it was buried in an email thread or a drawer.
Here's the pattern I kept seeing building this: it's never "I didn't want to return it." It's always "I forgot the window closed." Amazon gives you 30 days. Target gives you 90 but only 15 electronics. Warranties run 1-2 years and nobody remembers they exist until the thing breaks on day 400.
The fix isn't a better memory — it's removing the tracking step entirely. Photo of a receipt or a forwarded order email in, and the system should know the retailer's policy and count down for you, the same way a bank tells you when your card expires instead of expecting you to check.
That's the whole idea behind what we're building at ReturnRadar. If you're the kind of person with three Amazon orders you meant to send back, this is for you: whop.com/returnradar
