The 3 Moves Every Beginner Dancer Should Learn First
Most people think learning to dance means memorizing a bunch of complicated steps. That's actually backwards.
After teaching hundreds of beginners, I've found that the fastest way to look good on the dance floor comes down to just 3 foundational moves:
1. The Basic Step (Salsa)
Left foot forward, shift weight, bring it back. Right foot back, shift weight, bring it forward. That's it. Master this and you already look 10x better than most people at the club.
2. The Side-to-Side (Bachata)
Step left, together, left, tap. Step right, together, right, tap. Add a slight hip roll and you've got the vibe. Bachata is the most forgiving dance for beginners — the rhythm is slow enough to feel natural.
3. The Body Roll
This isn't a "move" — it's a feeling. Start from your chest, roll through your core, finish at your hips. Practice it in the mirror for 2 minutes a day. In a week, you'll move completely differently.
The secret? Don't try to learn everything at once. Nail these three, and you'll have the confidence to try anything.
I teach all of this (and way more) inside Ritmo Academy. If you've ever wanted to learn but felt intimidated — this is your sign. 🎶
