5 Cape Town routes every runner should know

Whether you're just starting out or training for your next ultra, Cape Town has some of the best running routes on the planet. Here are 5 you need to try:

1. Sea Point Promenade

Flat, scenic, and perfect for easy runs. 11km out-and-back along the Atlantic. Great for beginners and tempo runs alike.

2. Newlands Forest

Shaded trail running under towering pines. 5-8km loops with gentle climbs. Perfect for hot days.

3. Pipe Track (above Camps Bay)

A stunning contour path with ocean views. About 7km one way. Moderate difficulty — one of the most beautiful runs in the city.

4. Rhodes Memorial to Kirstenbosch

A mix of trail and tar through the back of Table Mountain. Rolling hills, 10km+ options, and wildlife if you're lucky.

5. Muizenberg to Kalk Bay (False Bay)

Coastal road running with a village coffee stop at the turnaround. 6km one way. Flat and fast.

We run these routes (and more) every weekend with RunCPT. All levels welcome — whether you're doing your first 5K or your fiftieth marathon.

Free to join. No gatekeeping. Just running.
