The #1 mistake new KDP publishers make (and it's not the cover)
Everyone obsesses over cover design when they start with Kindle Direct Publishing. It matters, but it's not the #1 reason books flop.
The real killer is publishing into a keyword no one searches. You can have the best cover and best-written book in the niche, and it will sell zero copies if nobody is typing that phrase into Amazon.
Before you write a single page:
Open Amazon, type your topic into the search bar, and see what autocompletes
Check if there are already books ranking for that term with decent reviews (proof of demand) but not hundreds of reviews (room to compete)
Only then start outlining
Keyword research isn't the boring part of KDP โ it's the part that decides whether you get paid. I'm building out Samazon KDP as a free hub to go deeper on this (and every other part of self-publishing on Amazon). Come say hi if you're working on a book.
