The 3 Cuts That Make or Break a Video
Most editors overthink transitions and effects. Here's what actually matters:
1. The Opening Cut — You have 0.5 seconds. If the first frame doesn't match the energy of the hook, viewers scroll. I always cut to action mid-motion, never from a still.
2. The Rhythm Cut — Every video has a pulse. Music-driven content needs cuts on the beat. Story-driven content needs cuts on the emotion. Miss the rhythm and the whole thing feels off.
3. The Breathing Room — The pause between intense sequences. New editors pack every second tight. But the space between cuts is where the story lands. Let it breathe.
These three principles guide every project I take on. Check out the portfolio for examples.
