What nobody tells you about SAP implementation

I've been implementing SAP ERP at my company for years. Here's what I wish someone had told me before I started:

1. The gap between SAP training and actual implementation is huge.

Every certification course teaches you what buttons to press. None of them teach you what happens when finance says the chart of accounts is wrong three months into go-live.

2. FI and CO integration is where most projects break.

Most consultants can configure FI. Most can configure CO. Very few understand how they interact — and that's where the expensive mistakes happen.

3. End users don't care about SAP. They care about their work.

The best implementations I've seen are the ones where the SAP team spent as much time understanding business processes as they did understanding the software.

4. Testing is not a phase. It's a culture.

Unit testing, integration testing, UAT — each catches different things. Skipping any of them means you're testing in production.

I started SAP from the Field to share what I've learned on real projects — not textbook scenarios, but actual implementation challenges and how to solve them.

If you're an accountant learning SAP, a consultant preparing for a project, or someone currently surviving a rollout — this is for you.
