New Feature: 4 Types of Screen Time Limits

We're excited to announce a major new feature coming to Screen Time Manager — customizable limit types. You'll soon be able to choose exactly how strict your screen time boundaries are.

šŸ”“ Soft Limit

The most flexible option. When your time is up, you can reset the limit whenever you want. Great for building awareness of your habits without hard restrictions.

ā³ Standard Limit

A balanced approach. Once your limit is reached, you can only take short breaks before getting back on track. Keeps you accountable while still giving some breathing room.

šŸ”’ Hard Limit

For when you mean business. When time's up, you'll need to complete a game challenge to unlock more time. Adds friction so you really have to earn those extra minutes.

šŸ›”ļø Immutable Limit

The ultimate lockdown. Once set, this limit cannot be reset — period. The only exception is a single emergency override per day for truly urgent situations. If you're serious about cutting screen time, this is for you.

Whether you need gentle nudges or an iron wall, there's now a limit type that fits your discipline level. More details on the release date coming soon.

šŸš€ Big Updates Coming Soon

We've been heads down building and wanted to give you a preview of what's on the way:

šŸŽØ Full UI Refresh

šŸ“Š Personalized Stats

You'll soon get detailed, personalized insights into your own screen time habits. Think tailored breakdowns, trends over time, and actionable data that's specific to YOU — not just generic numbers.

I tracked my screen time for 30 days. Here's what I learned.

Most people think they spend "a couple hours" online. The real number is usually 2-3x that.

I built Screen Time Manager because I caught myself spending 6+ hours a day bouncing between Reddit, YouTube, and Twitter — while telling myself I was "just taking a quick break."

Here's what tracking actually revealed:

The 5-minute trap is real. "Just 5 minutes" on a site turns into 40 minutes. Every single time. Setting hard limits was the only thing that broke the cycle.

Mornings are the danger zone. My biggest time waste happened before noon. Once I set limits on my top 3 sites before lunch, my afternoons became twice as productive.

Awareness alone changes behavior. Just seeing the daily counter ticking up made me think twice about opening a new tab. You don't need willpower — you need visibility.

The first week is the hardest. You'll hit your limits and feel annoyed. By week 2, you stop noticing. By week 3, you wonder how you ever lived without it.

If you're tired of losing hours to mindless scrolling, the extension is free on Chrome. Give it a week and see what changes.
