5 books that actually changed how I think (not the usual list)
Most "life-changing book" lists are the same recycled titles. Here are 5 that genuinely rewired my perspective — and why they hit different than the usual recommendations.
1. The body keeps the score. Self-care isn't bubble baths. It's understanding why you feel stuck in your own skin. This book explains the science behind it in a way that actually makes you do something about it.
2. Atomic Habits (but not for the reason you think). Everyone talks about the habit stacking chapter. The real gold is the identity chapter — you don't rise to the level of your goals, you fall to the level of your systems.
3. The Courage to Be Disliked. Adlerian psychology wrapped in a Socratic dialogue. Sounds weird, reads like a conversation with a brutally honest friend. Changed how I think about approval-seeking.
4. When Things Fall Apart. Pema Chödrön writes about sitting with discomfort instead of running from it. Not motivational — transformational. Read this when you're going through it.
5. The Defining Decade. If you're in your 20s and feel behind — this book will either light a fire under you or calm you down. Either way, you need it.
I'm building a library of books like these at InnerPages — curated reads for people who actually want to grow, not just perform growth. New titles every month.
