Most Shopify stores leave money on the table because of basic SEO mistakes. Here's what I see over and over:

1. No keyword strategy on product pages

Your product titles and descriptions should target what people actually search. "Blue Widget v2" means nothing to Google — "Lightweight Running Shoes for Flat Feet" does.

2. Duplicate content everywhere

Shopify creates duplicate URLs for products through collections. If you haven't set canonical tags properly, Google is confused about which page to rank.

3. Ignoring page speed

That 4MB hero image is costing you rankings. Google's Core Web Vitals directly impact where you show up. Compress images, lazy load below-the-fold content, and ditch heavy apps you don't use.

4. Zero internal linking

Your blog posts should link to your product pages. Your collection pages should link to related collections. This is how you build topical authority.

5. Not showing up in AI search

ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews pull answers from structured, authoritative content. If your store doesn't have helpful, well-organized content — you're invisible to the next wave of search.
