Why hotel beds feel different (and how to replicate it at home)

Ever check into a great hotel and immediately wonder "why does this bed feel so much better than mine?"

It's not magic. It's three things:

1. Thread count is overrated — weave matters more

Hotels use sateen weave cotton, not percale. Sateen has a silky, smooth drape that feels cool against skin. That "buttery" feeling you love? That's the weave, not some 1000-thread-count gimmick.

2. The sheet tuck technique

Hotel housekeepers use hospital corners and triple-fold the top sheet under the mattress. Try it tonight — the tension across the bed creates that crisp, taut surface.

3. The duvet-to-blanket ratio

Most hotels use a single lightweight duvet inside a high-quality cover. No layers of blankets. One duvet, one cover, done. The simplicity is what makes it feel luxurious.

I built Suite Dreams because I got tired of chasing that hotel feeling with random Amazon sheets. Every set we sell uses the same materials and construction as five-star hotel bedding.

Sweet dreams.
