The 3-hour rule that got me my first side income stream

When I was juggling class (or a 9-5) and wanting extra cash, the biggest lie I told myself was "I don't have time." What actually worked was the 3-hour rule: pick ONE side hustle, commit 3 hours a week to it for 30 days before judging results, and track everything in one place.

Most people fail side hustles not because the idea is bad, but because they context-switch between 5 ideas in week one. Pick one lane — freelancing, reselling, content, tutoring, whatever fits your schedule — and go deep before going wide.

I packaged the exact framework (with time-blocking templates for both class schedules and 9-5 shifts) into a PDF guide if you want the shortcut: Side Hustle Blueprint. Either way, pick your one thing this week and give it 3 hours.

The "pick one lane before going wide" point is underrated advice — I see the same failure mode in a completely different niche (digital guides). People spread themselves across five ideas in week one and never get real signal on any of them. One thing I'd add to the 3-hour rule: track leading indicators, not just results, during those first 30 days. Revenue lags, but things like "did I actually ship the thing I said I would this week" tell you faster whether the lane is viable before you've burned the full month.
