German Command — Bundle

$29

Both volumes. 889 pages, 826 archive photographs, 746 in colour. Two PDFs.

Both volumes. The reference, and the same photographs again in colour.

German Command — Fifty Lives, 1939–1945 is the book: fifty commanders and airmen set out from the German-language record, each opening on an identical data page, each entry ending on the same movement — what the record holds, against what was claimed for it later.

German Command in Colour is the pictures, larger and in colour: 746 of the book’s photographs across 524 pages, captions and credits carried over.

What you get

  • Clickable contents, bookmarks and four indexes
  • No DRM. Download the files and keep them.

What the colour is, and is not

The colour is not recovered. It is interpreted. Each frame was put through a generative model, which produced a plausible colouring of it. The composition is the photograph’s; the colour is not. Both books say so in their own front matter; a buyer should know it before paying rather than after.

Eighty images never passed the model’s content filter and are absent from the colour volume, six of them subject portraits.

Both are fixed-layout PDFs at 210 × 280 mm, and read best on a tablet or a desktop screen. There is no EPUB.
