The bundle math nobody tells you before you buy hair extensions
Started sourcing hair for Crown & Bundle a few months back and learned the hard way that "100% human hair" is a marketing phrase, not a guarantee.
Here's the breakdown that actually matters when you're comparing bundles:
Weft type. Machine double-wefted holds more density per bundle and sheds less than single-wefted. If a listing doesn't say which one, assume single — it's cheaper to produce.
Cuticle direction. Real human hair should be aligned root-to-tip ("remy"). Mixed-direction hair tangles fast no matter how good your routine is — that's not a you problem, that's a sourcing problem.
Bundle count vs. density. 3 bundles of dense hair often looks fuller than 4 bundles of thin hair. Weight in grams per bundle (100g standard) tells you more than bundle count alone.
Wash test. One wash in lukewarm water with a sulfate-free shampoo tells you everything. If it tangles at the ends after one wash, it wasn't remy hair — return it.
Built our whole bundle deal around double-wefted, root-aligned remy hair because that's the stuff that survives 3-4 installs instead of 1. If you're protective styling regularly, the cost-per-wear math changes completely once your hair actually lasts.
Happy to answer sourcing/care questions if anyone's shopping around.
