Why most dropshipping ads flop in the first 48 hours
I run ads for local shops and online stores, and the #1 mistake I see with dropshipping ad accounts is this: they launch a broad campaign on day one and judge it by day two.
Here's what's actually happening under the hood:
Day 1-2: The algorithm is still learning who to show your ad to. Cost per result looks bad. This is normal, not a failure.
Day 3-4: If your creative has a real hook in the first 2 seconds, the algorithm starts narrowing in on buyers, not just clickers.
Day 5-7: This is when you actually have enough data to make a real decision — kill it, scale it, or tweak the creative.
Most sellers panic and kill campaigns on day 2 because the CPA looks scary. That's the single biggest reason dropshipping ad budgets get wasted.
My rule: never judge a campaign before it's had a full learning phase (usually 50 optimization events or 3-4 days, whichever is longer). If you're spending real money on ads and pulling the plug too early, you're paying for data you're throwing away.
Happy to answer questions if anyone's stuck on their ad performance right now.
