The 3-nap trick that saved my sanity as a new mom

When my daughter was 4 months old, I was averaging 3 hours of broken sleep a night. I was a zombie. I couldn't remember if I'd eaten. I definitely hadn't showered.

Then I discovered something stupidly simple that changed everything: the 3-nap time block.

Here's how it works:

  • Nap 1 (morning): You rest. No chores. No phone. Eyes closed, even if you don't sleep.

  • Nap 2 (midday): You do ONE productive thing. Just one. A load of laundry. A meal prep. A 10-minute workout.

  • Nap 3 (afternoon): This is YOUR time. Read, scroll, journal, stare at the wall β€” whatever fills your cup.

The magic isn't the schedule itself β€” it's the permission structure. Instead of trying to "do it all" during every nap window and ending up exhausted and resentful, you assign a purpose to each one.

Within a week, I felt like a different person. Not because I was sleeping more β€” but because I stopped fighting the chaos and started working with it.

If you're a new mom drowning in the first year, I built MomFlow to share everything I've learned about sleep and time management. Real strategies, not Pinterest fantasy. Come join us.
