The 3 exercises every woman over 40 should be doing (and why most programs get it wrong)
I've coached dozens of women in their 40s and 50s, and the biggest mistake I see? Doing the same cardio-heavy routines that worked in your 20s.
Your body is different now. Your metabolism has shifted. Your joints need more care. And the programs that actually work look nothing like what Instagram tells you.
Here are the 3 non-negotiables:
1. Resistance training (not just bodyweight)
After 40, you lose muscle mass faster than ever. Resistance training isn't optional — it's the single best thing you can do for your metabolism, bone density, and confidence. Start with 2-3 sessions per week.
2. Mobility work before and after every session
Forget static stretching. Dynamic warm-ups + targeted mobility (hip flexors, thoracic spine, ankles) will keep you injury-free and moving well for decades.
3. Walking — seriously
Not HIIT. Not spinning. Walking 8,000-10,000 steps daily does more for fat loss, cortisol regulation, and mental health than any intense workout you'll burn out on in 2 weeks.
The women in my Vista community are seeing real results with this approach — dropping sizes, sleeping better, and actually enjoying the process.
