I've lived and eaten across Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and West Palm for years, and here's the problem I kept running into: Google reviews are either 5-star bot spam from the owner's cousins or 1-star rants about parking. Yelp is mostly tourists. None of it tells you if the food is actually good.

So a few of us started keeping a real list — spots we've personally eaten at, ranked honestly, organized by neighborhood and occasion (date night, group dinner, quick lunch, hidden gem). No sponsored placements, no fake 5-star inflation.

A few things I've learned building this out:

• The best spots in SoFlo are rarely the ones ranking #1 on Google — they're word of mouth (Boia De in Little Haiti had a 2-hour wait before it ever showed up on any "best of" list)

• Cuban food quality varies WILDLY by neighborhood — Little Havana isn't automatically better than a strip mall spot in Kendall

• Happy hour quality is its own skill — most "best happy hour" lists are just recycled press releases
