Why I built a free sneaker marketplace instead of another paid Discord
Every sneaker community I've been in charges $20-50/month for "access" to a group chat where people post W2C links and complain about restocks. That's not a marketplace — that's a paywall on friendship.
So I built SoleSwap differently: it's free to join, and it's actually built around trading — not hype-chasing. You post what's in your closet, size and condition included, and you find your buyer or trade partner directly in chat. No consignment cut, no shipping markup, no "insider access" fee.
The sneaker resell market runs on trust more than anything else. Photos, honest condition grading, and a real conversation before money moves — that's the whole system. It doesn't need to cost you a membership fee to work.
If you've got pairs sitting in boxes you're not wearing, or you're hunting for a specific colorway, come post it. Building this out in public — happy to hear what would make it more useful for your rotation.
