Why vintage sneakers are the best investment nobody talks about

A pair of 1985 Jordan 1 Chicagos sold for $5,500 in 2019. By 2024, that same pair was worth $25,000+.

Meanwhile, most "hyped" releases lose 40% of their value within 6 months of drop.

The vintage sneaker market operates on completely different rules than the hype market:

Scarcity is real. There are a finite number of OG pairs left in the world. Every year, that number shrinks. No restocks. No retros. Just the originals.

Condition is king. A deadstock vintage pair isn't just rare — it's a time capsule. Collectors pay exponentially more for pairs with original boxes, lace bags, and tissue paper.

Knowledge is the moat. If you can spot a legit vintage sole swap from a fake, you're already ahead of 95% of the market. Most people can't.

I built SoleVault because there was nowhere online where serious vintage collectors could buy, sell, and trade without wading through reps and hype resellers.

If you know your Air Max 1 OGs from your retros, or you can date a pair of Dunks by the tongue tag alone — this is your community.
