Amateur Etsy listings all fail the same way
I look at a lot of shops that should be selling and aren't.
The product is fine. The listing is not.
Three tells, every time:
1. Photos shot on a bedspread. Mixed light. A hand in the frame. Buyers are not shopping for "a person with a thing." They're shopping for a finished product in a world they already want.
2. Titles stuffed with every keyword from a 1am Google session. Etsy search still needs keywords. Humans still need a sentence. "Handmade ceramic mug — speckled, 12oz, dishwasher safe" beats a keyword pile.
3. No lifestyle mockup. If the only image is a flat product on white, the shop looks empty even when it isn't.
A shop that already sells looks decided. Same lighting family. Same crop. Same title shape. Same mockup style. It looks like a brand, not a hobby with a URL.
That's the bar. If your listings don't clear it, the algorithm isn't the problem.
