Why most 'make money from home' advice fails college students specifically
Most side-hustle content is written for people with 40 open hours a week. College students don't have that. You've got class blocks, exam weeks, and a brain that's already tired by 3pm.
Here's the filter I use before recommending any income method to a student:
Can you start it in under 2 hours? If the setup takes a weekend you don't have, skip it.
Does it survive a bad week? Exam week will happen. If missing 5 days kills your income, it's the wrong model.
Is the first dollar fast? You need proof it works within days, not months, or you'll quit.
Most "dropshipping empire" and "day trading" content fails all three. What actually passes: services you can sell with skills you already have (writing, editing, design, tutoring, social media management), sold directly to buyers who pay upfront โ not audience-building plays that take months to pay off.
If you're a student trying to build income around your class schedule, that's literally what I built StayHome Hustle for. Community + course + weekly drops, all filtered through the "does this survive a real semester" test.
