What's worked instead: pick ONE painful, boring problem (missed calls, no-show appointments, slow quote turnaround), build a narrow automation that fixes just that, and price it as a fixed monthly fee — not an hourly build. You're selling relief, not software.

Started doing this with dentists and contractors. First client took 3 weeks of cold outreach, not because the pitch was clever — because most outreach leads with "I build AI automations" instead of "you're losing $X/week to missed calls, here's the fix."

If you're building in this space: niche down to one problem, one industry, one clear dollar amount saved. That's the whole game.
