The 3-second rule that got me more Google reviews than any script ever did

I run a small business and spent months trying to get customers to leave Google reviews. Post-it notes at the register, "please review us" printed on receipts, even asking staff to say a line at checkout. Almost none of it worked.

Here's what I learned: the drop-off isn't that customers don't want to leave a review — it's the friction between "sure, I'll do that" and actually opening Google, searching your business name, and finding the review button. Most people give up in that gap. Every extra tap you ask someone to make costs you a chunk of your conversion.

So I built TapReview — an NFC plaque that skips all of it. Customer taps their phone, the Google review page opens immediately. No searching, no app, no typing a business name. If their phone doesn't support NFC, there's a QR code as backup.

The lesson generalizes beyond reviews: whenever you're asking a customer to take an action, count the number of steps between the ask and the action. Every step is a chance for them to get distracted and never come back. Cutting steps beats better wording almost every time.
