5 Design Shortcuts Freelancers Overlook (That Save Hours Per Week)

Most freelance designers waste time rebuilding the same components from scratch on every project. Here's what I've learned after years of building templates:

1. Auto-layout everything. If your Figma files don't use auto-layout, you're manually resizing every time a client changes copy. Set it up once, save yourself hours.

2. Build a personal component library. Not Figma Community components — YOUR components, styled to your brand defaults. Buttons, cards, nav bars, footers. Reuse relentlessly.

3. Use Canva for speed, Figma for precision. Quick social posts? Canva. Full brand systems? Figma. Stop forcing one tool to do both.

4. Template your proposals. Your project proposals and case study layouts should be templates too. Clients notice consistency.

5. Stop designing from a blank canvas. Start from a solid template and customize. Your creativity goes into the strategy and details — not reinventing grid systems.

I built AssetAttic because I kept seeing talented designers stuck in production mode instead of creative mode. Every template here is built to get you to "done" faster, so you can take on more clients or just get your evenings back.
