CodeFootprint: Extra protection, extra peace of mind for your development!(https://apps.apple.com/us/app/codefootprint/id6767498974)
Git is a great camera, but a terrible security monitor.
Git’s design philosophy is simple: you consciously take photos — press the shutter, commit, commit…
Every commit is a carefully composed static snapshot. It records what you want to record, what you think matters, what you consider impressive. Or you might want to let AI auto-commit, but what if it suddenly loses the plot halfway through?
There are things Git can’t do:
· If you don’t shoot, it isn’t saved. A new file that wasn’t git added — delete it and it’s gone.
· Everything between two snapshots is lost. Half-finished code, trial-and-error steps — Git knows nothing about them.
This is Git’s design boundary. Git is essentially a “result recorder,” not a “process recorder.”
In the AI era, this boundary can be dangerous.
Your workflow today probably goes like this: ask the AI to change a piece of code, test it, if it’s not right ask it to change it again, back and forth four or five rounds. At some point you have a vague feeling — “that version just now seemed correct” — but it’s already been overwritten.
Sometimes you may not even dare to commit, because the project is in pieces. If you don’t commit, Git sees nothing.
And in this high-speed iteration, you simply can’t “take a photo” in time. One second you see a brilliant algorithm implementation; the next second it could be overwritten by another round of AI edits. It’s fine if you notice the overwrite, but what if you don’t? Then time submerges it, fades it away… I often don’t notice — I’m a coding newbie.
Using a snapshot-based tool to deal with a streaming workflow. This mismatch may be one of the root causes of the anxiety.
Of course, AI coding tools all have features to record changes. If you only use one AI tool for a project, that is indeed enough.
But when you use multiple AI tools together, CodeFootprint can still monitor all of them simultaneously, recording their modifications, not limited to a single project conversation.
It’s also very convenient when handing off between different AI tools. You hand over the work that Claude Code couldn’t do well to Codex. At that point, you can right-click to export the traces of the files Claude Code modified and send them to Codex, so it understands the situation and avoids repeating the same mistakes. Or you can simply tell Codex the database address where this project’s modification traces are stored and let it query directly!
Git is the project’s photo album; CodeFootprint provides global monitoring. No matter which AI tool, it records the changes.
· Git: Actively triggered, checkpoint recording, stores only what you explicitly add. You need to think carefully, decide whether to stage, and so on.
· CodeFootprint: Runs silently, records continuously, captures modification traces, works 24/7, tirelessly.
It fills three gaps that Git leaves behind:
1. Blind spot coverage. Untracked files, ignored config files, half-finished code — all recorded.
2. Process replay. From the last Git checkpoint to right now, every step can be replayed.
3. Recording traces of versions you didn’t have time to commit, as a safety net.
Git → Answers “What versions does the project have?”
CodeFootprint → Answers “What the hell did I just change?”
One manages results, the other manages process.
Real-world scenario: The AI breaks the code.
1. git log, instantly go back to the last correct checkpoint.
2. Send the CodeFootprint database to the AI, let it examine all the changes from that checkpoint to now — the good, the bad, everything — saving you energy.
3. Every change in CodeFootprint has a corresponding timestamp, allowing the AI to pinpoint the exact time to investigate the problem. Saves unnecessary back-and-forth.
Of course, it also records your modification traces when you write code manually in VS Code! Works 24/7, available offline!
Let Git handle your milestones, and let CodeFootprint record every step of the AI. The former defines versions, the latter reveals the truth.
This is not one tool replacing another; it is one tool filling the gap the other leaves behind. They coexist, expanding your room to maneuver, and adding extra convenience, extra protection, extra peace of mind.
I've prepared 12 promo codes.Welcome everyone to give it a try!😊
