I got diagnosed at 15. here's what I know now that I wish I knew then:
1. Your brain isn't broken — it's just wired for a different world.
ADHD brains were built for hunting, exploring, and reacting fast. The modern world just wasn't designed for us. That's not a flaw, that's a mismatch.
2. Systems > willpower. Every single time.
Stop trying to "just focus harder." Build systems that work WITH your brain. Timers, body doubling, task stacking — these aren't crutches, they're power tools.
3. The shame spiral is the real enemy.
Forgetting something doesn't make you dumb. Missing a deadline doesn't make you lazy. The shame you feel after is what actually destroys your momentum. Learn to catch it early.
4. Movement is medicine.
Not even joking. A 10-minute walk before a task can do more than 2 hours of "trying to focus." Your brain needs blood flow. Give it that.
5. You need people who get it.
Explaining ADHD to neurotypical people is exhausting. Find your people. That's why I built The ADHD Club — a space where nobody asks "why can't you just pay attention?"
