The 3-strike rule: how to tell a dry conversation from a dead one
Most guys make the same mistake when a conversation goes quiet: they keep texting into silence.
Here's the rule I give every client. Three unanswered messages, spaced out, is a dead conversation. Not two. Not one bad day. Three.
Strike one is normal. People get busy. Wait, then send one message with something specific in it — a reference to something she said, not "hey" or "you alive?"
Strike two is a signal. Don't chase it with a follow-up two hours later. Give it several days. Then one more message, low effort, easy to reply to.
Strike three is your answer. Stop. Not out of spite — out of accuracy. She's told you where she's at without saying it.
The reason this matters isn't dignity for its own sake. It's that guys who keep texting into silence burn the one thing that actually works later: the possibility of a clean re-approach weeks down the line. Twelve unanswered messages closes that door permanently. Three leaves it open.
What kills conversations is almost never one bad text. It's the pattern of effort imbalance that builds after it — and the fix is knowing when to stop reading tea leaves and just take the answer.
