Most guys starting out with cologne waste money because nobody tells them the basics. Here are the 5 biggest mistakes I see:

1. Blind buying based on hype. Just because a cologne is trending on TikTok doesn't mean it works with your body chemistry. Always sample first.

2. Spraying way too much. 2-3 sprays max. Pulse points only — wrists and neck. If people can smell you from across the room, you've already lost.

3. Ignoring seasons. That heavy oud cologne hits different in July (and not in a good way). Lighter, fresher scents for summer. Save the warm spicy stuff for fall and winter.

4. Storing bottles in the bathroom. Heat and humidity destroy fragrance molecules. Keep them in a cool, dark place — your dresser or closet works.

5. Only owning one cologne. You wouldn't wear the same outfit to a date and a job interview. Same logic applies. Build a small rotation of 3-5 for different occasions.
