I bombed my first interview. Like, completely froze up.

Looking back, the problem wasn't that I wasn't qualified. It was that nobody taught me how interviews actually work. So here's what I've learned since then:

  1. They're not testing your knowledge — they're testing your communication.

You don't need to know everything. You need to explain your thinking clearly.

  1. "Tell me about yourself" is not a life story request.

Keep it under 90 seconds. Present → Past → Future. What you're doing, what led you here, what you're excited about.

  1. Confidence comes from preparation, not personality.

The most confident interviewees aren't the most outgoing — they're the most prepared.

  1. You should be interviewing them too.

Asking thoughtful questions shows you're serious. "What does success look like in this role in the first 90 days?" is a great one.

  1. Follow up. Always.

A short thank-you email within 24 hours puts you ahead of 90% of candidates.

If you're prepping for your first interview right now, I put everything I know into an ebook called First Job Ready. It's designed specifically for people who have zero interview experience and want to feel genuinely prepared

Most people treat fitness, academics, and career prep as separate things. They're not. They're all the same skill: showing up when you don't feel like it.

Here are the 3 habits that changed everything:

  1. The 20-minute rule

You don't need 2-hour gym sessions or all-night study marathons. Commit to 20 focused minutes. Every day. No exceptions. Once you start, momentum takes over. Most days you'll go way longer — but the bar to start is always just 20 minutes.

  1. Stack your goals

Listen to college prep podcasts during cardio. Practice interview answers while walking to class. When you layer your goals on top of each other, you 3x your progress without adding hours to your day.

  1. Find your "why not me?" moment

Someone at your dream school was once exactly where you are. Someone with your body type already has the physique you want. Someone with your background crushed the interview you're stressing about. The difference isn't talent — it's deciding "why not me?" and then putting in the reps.

I built Road to Your Dream Self because I wish I'd had a place like this when I was starting out. Fitness plans, college prep frameworks, interview coaching, and a community of people who actually care about getting better.

If that sounds like what you need, come check it out.
